Yyoyo Escada: Yolanda Roberson, also known as Yyoyo, is a Black Native American artist from Roxbury and Dorchester, MA. She gained national recognition as a top 3 finalist on HBO Max’s Legendary (2020) with her ballroom family, the Iconic House of Escada. Yyoyo has also been featured as The Oracle in Queer Bodies in Motion, and in Trojan Magnum’s Naked campaign.

She has performed with groups like Unique Skills, the first dance crew to guest perform for both Coca-Cola and Pepsi’s talent contests, and she founded Boston’s first Waacking-focused event, Waacking Sessions, in 2019. As a choreographer, she’s worked with reggae artist Jevon, opening for icons like Elephant Man, Buju Banton, and Omarion.

With a dance career that began at age 14, Yyoyo has toured internationally, including two tours in Paris with Boston City Lights, and represented the U.S. in global dance battles in Germany (2011) and the Czech Republic’s SDK World Competition (2013) with New Skool Assassins.
