Get ready to laugh and be entertained as a panel of punsters takes the stage in a competition to be crowned 2026’s Pun Champion of Boston. This year we'll be slinging puns at the gorgeous venue of The Substation located @ 4228 Washington St. As contestants go head-to-head with wit and wordplay they’ll rack up points awarded by the judges and the audience. One by one they'll be eliminated until we crown a victor!

Doors open at 6:30pm, and bar stays open after the show!

Tickets are $25 online, $35 day of at the door. Full bar menu (beer, wine, cocktail, and mocktail options) + pan-style pizza from Old Friend pizza will be available to purchase or you can add it to your tickets and have it delivered to your table upon arrival! After an eight-year hiatus, the Brian Friedland Big Band returns for a special evening of original music and imaginative large-ensemble jazz. Performed by a 20-piece orchestra of some of Boston’s finest musicians, Friedland’s compositions draw inspiration from diverse sources including poetry, travel, personal experiences, classical minimalism, and contemporary music styles, creating works rich in imagery, narrative, and emotional depth.

The concert will feature the premiere of a new composition exploring chance-based improvisation techniques, inviting spontaneous musical interactions and unexpected sonic landscapes. The program will also include a fresh big band arrangement of John Williams’s iconic Star Wars theme, reimagined through the lens of modern jazz. Combining intricate writing, adventurous improvisation, and powerful ensemble playing, this rare performance marks the long-awaited return of a band dedicated to bringing new music to life.

The Bar will be closed on July 4th for the holiday. Happy 4th!

The Substation is partnering with Roslindale Film Society and The Boston Home Team to bring you Bottoms!

After they accidentally injure their high school's star quarterback by hitting him with a car, best friends PJ and Josie concoct an elaborate lie about having spent time in a juvenile correction facility over the summer, and start a self-defense club for women.The film screening begins at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $7 in advance, or $10 at the door. Beer, wine, snacks, and pizza will be available for purchase.
