The Substation is partnering with Roslindale Film Society and The Boston Home Team to bring you Bottoms!

After they accidentally injure their high school's star quarterback by hitting him with a car, best friends PJ and Josie concoct an elaborate lie about having spent time in a juvenile correction facility over the summer, and start a self-defense club for women.The film screening begins at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $7 in advance, or $10 at the door. Beer, wine, snacks, and pizza will be available for purchase.

The Listening Room is our free live music series, featuring artists and presenters in residence who curate an intimate, unique listening experience. These artists are not here to “gig” - but rather to explore, connect, and engage with their art. Audiences are invited into their worlds through their unique expressions.

This month, our resident Citixen Joy presents artist Jojo Sounds to perform his new EP, World of Sounds Vol 1. World of Sounds is a retrospective and a homecoming--Jojo Sounds moves through a decade of his own catalog inside a living room set filled with archival photographs, physical media, and the immigration stories that made him whole, arriving at the release of his new EP on a date that carries the full weight of Black diasporic identity.

TONIGHT! We’re getting comfortable to watch the Brazil v Morocco game at 6pm, followed by Haiti v Scotland at 9pm, with a watch party sponsored by Barbancourt Rum! We’ll have tasty Haitian patties for sale, too.

The Legendary Cat in the Hat will join us in person for a special kids' storytime and sing-along to celebrate his new book, Sing the 50 United States!

With this newly discovered and never-before-seen picture book by Dr. Seuss himself, celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America! From Alabama to Wyoming, learn the names of all 50 states with a little help from the Cat in the Hat.

We’re welcoming Lexi Baby back to The Substation to call this month’s bingo game, and sprinkle in a couple signature performances. This is a Bingo night you won’t want to miss!

We’ll still kick off with a brief Latin dance class, but we’ll get to the live music to get those feet and hips moving between 7:30 and 8pm.
